Prefer prior travel experience. Description : Hiring process involves an interview with the clinical team. There is no involvement from unit management. Candidates must provide a valid driver's license and adhere to a radius limit. Orientation requires clinicians to be on-site for the designated week. The unit includes a Level 2 NICU with 6 beds. The nurse to patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 babies. Common patient diagnoses include hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, and phototherapy. The unit also cares for pre-term babies who need to learn bottle feeding and gain weight. Other patient scenarios may include babies withdrawing from maternal drug use. NICU RNs are required to attend C-sections and vaginal deliveries, focusing on the baby. They may also care for stable postpartum mothers and babies, but training will be provided if experience is limited. Shift scheduling is determined by leadership six weeks in advance. Travelers are expected to be flexible and assist in filling scheduling gaps. All time off requests must be submitted before starting the assignment. Weekend requirements include 6-9 weekend shifts within the six-week schedule. Holiday rotation may be required during holiday periods. Call or standby requirements are rare and primarily occur during low census periods. Scrubs will be provided in blue hospital colors. The charting system used is electronic medical record software. The facility allows for the cancellation of up to four shifts during 13-week assignments. No prior BSN is required for this position.
