Senior Human Resources Manager
The Senior Human Resources Manager is responsible for a range of HR functions. They are also responsible for filling all hourly positions promptly, ensuring accurate and timely completion of paperwork, understanding and enforcing company policies, and assisting with benefits and workers' compensation tasks.
Responsibilities include :
- Administering insurance benefits, calculating billing totals, explaining benefits, assisting with completion of enrollment forms, and answering questions.
- Compiling review lists and distributing them to departments.
- Compiling turnover reports and distributing copies.
- Entering payroll information on the computer (wage information, changes).
- Conducting prescreening interviews.
- Responding to unemployment claims and maintaining an unemployment logbook.
- Maintaining new hire, termination, transfer, and promotion logbooks.
- Auditing hours worked in payroll reports for eligibility of benefits.
- Compiling wage surveys.
- Monitoring and maintaining the Leave of Absence log.
- Monitoring Workman's Compensation claims, completing First Report of Injury and Employers Report of Industrial Injury.
- Answering questions regarding the 401K Plan, vacation, and benefits (insured and noninsured).
- Maintaining a complimentary room night log and processing employee requests.
- Preparing and placing recruitment advertising.
- Processing paperwork for terminating employees.
- Maintaining an advertising logbook.
- Becoming certified in all Human Resources training modules.
- Ensuring compliance with all HR and related Loss Prevention SOP's.
- Participating in the Highgate Hotel Enrichment Committee.
- Scheduling Highgate Hotel Orientation.
- Assisting in Highgate Hotel Orientation explaining benefits, conducting a tour of the property.
- Writing articles and taking pictures for the property newsletter.
- Assisting with special projects; planning employee events (meetings, picnics, parties).
- Coordinating the Travel Reduction Program, writing the Travel Reduction Plan, conducting yearly transportation surveys.
- Maintaining a First Aid log.
Qualifications include :
At least 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry is required.Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.College course work in a related field is helpful.A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Long hours are sometimes required.Experience in a union environment is required.Sedentary work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.Effective communication both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.Effectively listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.Approaching all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.Attending all hotel-required meetings and training.Participating in M.O.D. coverage as required.Maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.Complying with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Maximizing efforts towards productivity, identifying problem areas, and assisting in implementing solutions.Effectively handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.Ability to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.Performing other duties as requested by management.
