Coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists in a multispecialty group practice, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations, and scheduling post-operative visits. Provide administrative support such as collecting patient payments, performing insurance verification, scheduling follow-up appointments, obtaining records / authorizations, and managing patient registration in relevant systems. Communicate regularly with supervisors, doctors, patients, and insurance companies to ensure smooth scheduling and patient care. Work independently with minimal supervision, with periodic progress reviews.

The surgery coordinator verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, obtains all necessary authorizations for clinic visits, procedures, injections, and surgeries, and prepares surgery packets with all required information. Acts as a liaison between patients, physicians, and hospital staff, managing follow-up care and addressing patient questions and concerns promptly. Also, performs clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

• Coordinate and Schedule Patient Surgeries : Obtain, document, and update patient information, verify insurance coverage, request deposits, and set up payment plans. Handle front office calls related to costs and finances. Obtain necessary authorizations and pre-certifications for surgeries and clinic visits. Interface with electronic medical records and surgery systems. Maintain confidentiality and ensure safety compliance. Provide excellent customer service and participate in team meetings.
• General Administrative Duties : Resolve patient issues related to billing, appointments, and records. Respond to staff requests, assist with schedule adjustments, and maintain patient flow. Support administrative communication between clinics and programs. Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
• Additional Responsibilities : Perform other duties or projects as assigned, ensuring efficiency and quality of service.

The hourly rate range is $22.00 - $34.18. USC considers various factors in compensation decisions, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
