Description :

Unit requires a Level 1 Trauma experience.

Traveler will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam before acceptance.

Traveler will be expected to float to tele floors.

There is a 50-mile radius rule in effect.

Candidates must have natural hair color and no facial piercings.

Men must be clean-shaven for fit tests.

A pass / fail exam will occur on the first day of orientation.

All RNs must complete a specific skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.

Nurses must maintain a sterile field and are expected to be competent in these skills.

The common diagnoses on the unit include postoperative patients, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infections.

Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4-5.

BLS certification is required.

Heparin is the only titratable drip on this unit.

There are no telemetry monitors in the specified department, but telemetry skills are preferred due to potential floating.

A house supervisor is available 24 / 7.

No PCTs are utilized; nurses will need to take on additional resource responsibilities.

RT will be assigned to the unit.

Scheduling is self-scheduled, with schedules made four weeks in advance.

Weekend requirements include three weekend days per pay period.

Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation schedule.

Travelers will be the first to float.

Navy blue scrubs are required for this unit.

Orientation will include shifts with a preceptor to ensure adequate training.

Cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.

Charting is conducted using a specified electronic medical record system.

A BSN is not required for the submission of this position.
