Location : 4201 ROSE Endoscopy
Schedule : Day Shift. Monday-Thursday. 36 hrs. 7 : 00a-4 : 30p.
About The Position
The Gastroenterology Scope Technician is responsible for the preparation of procedure room and equipment before an endoscopic procedure and the cleanup / processing of equipment after the procedure. He / she will work with staff to assist in room turnover, cleaning of procedure rooms and restocking of supplies. Daily duties include, but are not limited to, processing of endoscopy equipment, decontaminating and regular maintenance of endoscopy instruments according to manufacturers instructions. He / she will also assist in obtaining lab specimen collection under the supervision / guidance of RN and physician, including label and lab order entry.
Job Duties
- Promote Mission Statement and C.A.R.E principles of organization.
- Assure availability of instrumentation and supplies required for the endoscopy procedure prior to the case.
- Participate in room set up, turnover, cleaning, and restocking.
- Process, decontaminate, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with manufacturers specifications and the facility's policies and procedures.
- Notify supervisor of any potential defects to equipment and facilitate maintenance / repair with manufacturer.
- Practice universal precautions and hazardous materials management in the decontamination process.
- Perform weekly scope surveillance sampling and culturing.
- Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Assist in lab specimen collection and documentation under direction of RN and physician.
- Process physician orders and record information with accuracy, speed, and proficiency.
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures, Standards of Care, and Standards of Practice.
- Complete Workday requirements as assigned.
- Maintain annual competencies and certifications.
Qualifications
Successful completion of ROSE and Reid Health orientation and competency based skills appropriate for the area assigned.Education Required : High School diploma.Education Preferred : CNA certification or evidence of successful completion of Reid Health recognized Nursing Assistant program or the fundamentals course of nursing school.Experience Required : Yes; in an extended care or other healthcare facility.Certifications : Basic Life Support.Maintain ongoing professional education and competency-based skills.Get notified about new Medical Technician jobs in Richmond, IN.
