Become part of the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team, the driving force behind our AI vision at Capital One. Collaborating closely with our partners across the organization, we push the boundaries of AI science and engineering. Our team builds and deploys proprietary solutions that create significant value for millions of customers. We empower teams at Capital One to integrate the full potential of AI responsibly and effectively into their products.

In this role, you will :

Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-driven products that enhance the work of our associates and improve customer interactions at Capital One.

Design, develop, test, and deploy AI software components, encompassing foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, model evaluation, and observability.

Utilize a wide array of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, including AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.

Develop cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance the performance of large-scale AI systems.

Contribute to the long-term technical vision and roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with at least 8 years of experience in AI and ML development, or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience.

Minimum of 8 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications :

8 years of experience deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Experience in architecting and supporting complex AI systems.

Capability to lead and mentor engineering teams and engage stakeholders up to the VP level.

Proficiency in developing advanced AI algorithms using programming languages like Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.

Experience in optimizing AI training and inference software for performance.

A strong interest in AI research and practical applications.

Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex AI concepts to diverse audiences.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below. This information is intended for candidates hired to work in specified locations and reflects Capital One’s pay range at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be adjusted based on the agreed hours.

Cambridge, MA : $263,900 - $301,200

McLean, VA : $263,900 - $301,200

New York, NY : $287,800 - $328,500

Richmond, VA : $239,900 - $273,800

San Francisco, CA : $287,800 - $328,500

San Jose, CA : $287,800 - $328,500

Actual salaries may vary based on location and will be outlined in the job offer.

This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include bonuses and long-term incentives.
