Job Title : Phlebotomist
Location : State College, PA 16801
Duration : 13 weeks with the option to extend
Education : High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of a certified Phlebotomy program or equivalent
Shift Details : Primarily Days with Rotation to Eves Weekend and Holiday Work may be required - 8-hour shifts
Job Description :
- Perform blood specimen collections via venipuncture, finger-stick, heel-stick (for infants) for inpatients and outpatients
- Identify patients correctly (name, ID bands, requisitions) and label samples accurately to ensure patient safety and correct matching of specimen to patient.
- Process specimens : accession orders, prepare specimens for transport to the testing lab, evaluate specimen adequacy / suitability, resolve or refer discrepancies
- Use laboratory information systems (LIS) / hospital computer systems : data entry of demographics, test orders, cancellations, charges / credits, maintain sample identity.
Maintain supplies / inventory, monitor materials and reagents, use cost effective practices.
