Setting : Hospital – Acute Care

Employment Type : Per Diem (Travel Respiratory Therapist)

Shift : Night shift required (12-hour shifts)

Minimum Commitment : 24 hours per 4-week period

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 1 / 5 / 2026 – End : 4 / 4 / 2026)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1630 - $1750

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license (NYS RRT license required)

BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or RQI required)

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist; acute care experience preferred

Strong communication and collaboration skills in a clinical setting

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

Provide professional and technical respiratory care to patients in a hospital setting

Assess patient needs, develop and implement respiratory care plans, and evaluate outcomes

Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens, interpret cardiopulmonary data, and perform diagnostic tests

Manage medical gases, ventilator support, airway management, and bronchopulmonary hygiene procedures

Administer respiratory pharmacological agents and therapies

Educate patients and families on respiratory disease processes, therapies, and self-care techniques

Document respiratory care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team

Maintain current knowledge and competency in respiratory therapy practices and hospital protocols

Participate in mentoring and orientation of new respiratory therapy staff as needed
