Overview

The Controller oversees Arcadias accounting operations and financial systems, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strategic insight across all business units. This role manages day-to-day financial processesincluding bookkeeping, payroll, and commission reconciliationwhile building forward-looking budgets and forecasts that help guide the firms growth. Partnering closely with the COO, CEO, and department heads, the Controller drives financial clarity, discipline, and scalability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead all accounting functions, including bookkeeping, general ledger, payroll, and commission reconciliation.
  • Own vendor payments, expense reimbursements, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Establish clear reporting cadences and dashboards for leadership visibility.
  • Coordinate with external accountants for tax preparation and audit support as needed.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Partner with department heads to build and maintain annual budgets, aligning spend with strategic goals.
  • Deliver monthly variance reports and forecast updates to leadership.
  • Support scenario modeling for hiring, new initiatives, and margin planning.
  • Monitor budget adherence and proactively recommend adjustments.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Maintain sound internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of all financial data.
  • Collaborate with Compliance to support SEC and state requirements (e.g., Form ADV financial sections, custodian audits).
  • Manage accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and documentation.
  • Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a financial partner to the COO and CEOtranslating data into actionable insights.
  • Recommend process and system improvements to increase financial efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
  • Lead or support cross-department initiatives such as financial system integrations, reporting automation, or compensation model enhancements.
  • Participate in leadership discussions regarding growth planning, expense management, and profitability.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, ideally in a multi-entity or professional services environment (RIA experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong operational mindsetcomfortable balancing high-level analysis with hands-on accounting work.
  • Demonstrated success building budgets, forecasts, and management reports for leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
  • Success Metrics

  • Monthly financials delivered by the 10th business day.
  • Department budgets monitored with variance reports distributed monthly.
  • Quarterly forecasts updated and reviewed with leadership.
  • All payroll and reimbursements accurate and on time.
