Community Retail Area Director
Open in any community location within FirstBank footprint. Summary : The Community Retail Area Director is responsible for leading retail banking initiatives across designated community markets. This role serves as a strategic liaison between community markets and metro retail leadership, ensuring alignment on retail initiatives and execution of market-specific strategies. The position manages Financial Center Managers within an assigned area and collaborates closely with Market Presidents to implement retail changes, drive growth, and enhance customer experience. The Community Retail Area Director represents community markets in retail leadership meetings and advocates for local needs while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute retail strategies tailored to community markets, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between community markets and retail leadership, representing local priorities in decision-making forums.
- Provide leadership and coaching to designated Community Financial Center Managers, fostering a culture of performance, compliance, and customer service excellence.
- Monitor branch performance metrics and implement initiatives to achieve growth targets in deposits, loans, and customer engagement.
- Partner with Community Market Presidents to identify opportunities for retail expansion and community involvement.
- Support local marketing and outreach efforts to strengthen brand presence and customer relationships.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management standards across all branches.
- Promote best practices in branch operations, customer service, and employee development.
- Analyze market trends and customer feedback to adjust strategies and maintain competitiveness.
- Prepare reports on branch performance, community initiatives, and retail outcomes for senior leadership.
- Cultivate an environment that supports teamwork, performance. Provide leadership through communication, performance management, development and recognition of staff.
- Manage the team by hiring, coaching, training and providing direction to team members through feedback to support personal development and ongoing improvement.
Education and / or Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in retail banking, with a focus on branch operations or market leadership.Proven track record of driving sales growth and improving customer satisfaction.Strong understanding of retail banking products and services.Proven experience in leading and developing teams.Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management in banking.Skills and Abilities
Frequent local travel within assigned market; occasional overnight travel as needed.Demonstrated ability to drive performance and growth through effective leadership and collaboration.Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with a proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, business leaders, and community stakeholders.Respectful demeanor toward other associates and managers that promotes a positive and professional work environment.Ability to analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations applicable to your job duties.
