Schedule Details :

Nights, 8 and 12-hour shifts, every third weekend rotation, holiday rotation

Incentives :

Unit Overview :

Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit providing care to a diverse patient population, which includes :

Post-operative patients from craniotomies, AVMs, and tumor resections

Patients undergoing cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries

Patients affected by hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program

A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery cases, alongside medical overflow

As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you will work with the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care.

Deliver and coordinate comprehensive, evidence-based patient care using the nursing process

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, therapeutic, and compassionate care

Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to achieve optimal patient outcomes

Enhance the patient experience across the continuum of care

Major Responsibilities :

Assess patient needs, plan individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness involving the patient and family

Recognize and respond to significant changes in the patient’s condition

Implement safety strategies and assess patient readiness to learn

Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach

Utilize evidence-based practices in all patient care

Provide ongoing evaluation of patient and team outcomes, participating in shared governance initiatives

Demonstrate effective communication, leading and collaborating with the healthcare team

Promote patient safety and report any safety events timely

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance department functions

Engage in professional development activities and mentor others

Possess knowledge to provide age-appropriate care as per departmental standards

Licensure, Registration, and Certification :

Registered Nurse license from the state of practice

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the AHA

Education :

Completion of an accredited nursing program

Experience :

Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Skills to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family needs

Ability to recognize situational changes and respond effectively

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational, prioritization, and critical decision-making skills

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in team settings

Physical Requirements :

Ability to perform physical activities required for patient care, including lifting and transferring patients

Exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, and body fluids; protective equipment required

Ability to operate necessary equipment and perform nursing duties effectively
