Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification

Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and / or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification

Proficient in Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation

Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital; emergency room experience preferred

Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

ER Nurse Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process : assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department within the RN scope of practice

Educate and guide patients, families, and other healthcare staff

Uphold professional nursing standards and hospital policies

Communicate effectively with physicians and the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans

Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations

Demonstrate knowledge of EMTALA regulations and mandatory reporting requirements

Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality
