Resumes must reflect an accurate employment timeline.Applications with unexplained gaps in employment history will not be considered.Cover letters may be sent toemployment@maocorp.com.Position Summary :Under direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Production Line Mechanic is responsible to maintain all equipment and machinery for our production lines. This position will be required to conduct all phases of mechanical maintenance as a single mechanic and as a part of a greater maintenance team. This position is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the Pear Lines, Apple Line, Cherry lines, and the facility. The mechanic in this position may need to step into other maintenance roles to help maintain all equipment for the pear, apple and cherry lines. The mechanic will also do electrical and refrigeration maintenance when needed.
As we're moving into our Cherry Season (June & July) at this time, someone taking this position will be expected to help at the Dallesport facility and may work primarily or solely at our Bingen facility for our Pear / Apple Season (August - May).
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.
- Performs equipment correction and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Review production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment for different varieties of fruit being ran.
- Tests equipment to check operation. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to management and takes appropriate action.
- Notifies management of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
- Instructs and directs any maintenance subordinates assigned.
- Oils and greases all packaging equipment
- Wear all personal protection equipment (PPE) as necessary and required
- Comply with all OSHA laws governing workplace safety and health
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and up to 7 days a week as necessary
- Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs
- Adhere to good manufacturing practices, personal and work area hygiene & food safety standards and requirements
- Follow all Plant Safety requirements and adhere to the Company Handbook

- Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Temperatures can be moderate to cold this indoor work environment.
- Must be able to work outside & nights as needed.

- Stand on feet for long periods of time (Up to three hours at a time).

- Experience / Education :
- Mechanic experience in fruit packing industry highly preferred.
- HS Diploma / GED preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish / English preferred.
- Be proficient in all phases of welding.
- Be proficient in electrical work.
- Be proficient in hydraulics.
- Be proficient in operation of all machine shop equipment.
