Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Kalamazoo, MI 49048 (Michigan nursing jobs)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 8 / 2025 – End : 3 / 9 / 2026)

Healthcare Setting : Stepdown Intermediate Care Unit (22 beds)

Shift : Nights, 4x12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Holiday Requirement : Every other holiday

Floating : As needed within hospital or to affiliate hospitals

Charting System : Cerner Powerchart

Scrub Color : Caribbean Blue

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1890–$1940

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Michigan or compact state, or willing to obtain prior to start)

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Stepdown, Progressive Care, or ICU nursing

Required certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CPI preferred)

Proficiency with Cerner charting system

Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates; travel nursing only)

COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)

Ability to float to similar units as needed

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Completion of up to 8 hours of pre-start modules required

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a cardiac stepdown setting

Monitor and manage cardiac drips (no titration) and vasoactive drips

Administer blood products, manage central and peripheral lines, and provide wound care

Interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases

Care for patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, sepsis, congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), post-surgical, and stroke

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, and social services

Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed

Float to similar units or affiliate hospitals based on census and staffing needs

Maintain professional conduct and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
