Northwood University seeks a talented and creative Digital Content Writer to join our Marketing & Communications team. This role is responsible for creating compelling, strategic content that communicates the university’s mission, values, and impact across digital and social channels, driving engagement with prospective students, alumni, donors, faculty, and students.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit high-quality content for digital platforms including the website, social media, email campaigns, and blogs.
- Create engaging, persuasive messaging aligned with institutional priorities.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify and craft impactful stories.
- Translate complex academic topics into accessible content.
- Ensure content adheres to brand voice, tone, and standards.
- Optimize content for SEO, AI, and accessibility (ADA compliance).
- Contribute to content planning, audits, and calendars.
- Monitor content performance and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.2–5 years of experience in digital writing, content strategy, or journalism; higher education experience is a plus.Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.Familiarity with digital marketing practices, SEO, UX writing, and content management systems like WordPress.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.Preferred Skills
Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).Basic skills in visual content creation (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive language.Knowledge of AP style and editorial calendars.Experience with CRM tools for email and text messaging.Additional Information
