What You Will Do

With ambitious expansion plans on the immediate horizon, this is a unique opportunity for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance professional to experience personal and professional growth while also having an immediate impact on the business. The Manager, Food Safety & Quality Assurance will be the subject matter expert for all food safety, regulatory, and compliance matters across the company, and will ensure that company procedures and GMPs are followed daily. Splitting time between the production floor and the office, this role will lead the strategy while ensuring business needs are met.

Responsibilities :

  • Implement, build on, and adhere to strong food safety programs, including pest control, sanitation, raw material inspection, environmental monitoring, and foreign material control.
  • Ensure compliance with all customer and 3rd party audit requirements, including, federal, state, and customer regulations, serving as the primary contact for all audits, inspections, customer complaints, and internal training.
  • Work closely with Operations, R&D, Procurement, Logistics, Marketing and other functional groups to drive a culture of food safety across all functions.
  • Manage and mentor the quality assurance and sanitation teams, ensuring their work is accurate, effective, and collaborative.
  • Effectively identify food safety and quality risks, provide solutions to mitigate identified risks, and manage the implementation of solutions.
  • Secure and maintain SQF certification as the SQF Practitioner, and implement and maintain compliance with the SQF Food Safety Code. Stay current on changes to SQF code, regulatory standards, and customer expectations to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development, documentation, and validation of the SQF Food Safety and Quality Management System and ensure site readiness for annual SQF audits and unannounced inspections. Conduct regular internal audits and facilitate corrective actions in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Oversee daily sanitation operations; verify effectiveness through routine monitoring testing; investigate sanitation-related deviations or findings, and lead corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Maintain the approved supplier program and develop and conduct a supplier audit process.
  • Manage the product sampling and environmental testing program with a third-party laboratory.

The ideal candidate is a Quality and Food Safety Professional who is entrepreneurial and excited to be a part of building a great packaged food business. You are an accomplished, hands-on individual who has a passion for building a culture that has food safety, product quality, and ultimately, the consumer, at its core.You are highly structured and have impeccable problem solving skills.

Qualifications :

  • 5-10 years' experience in a quality assurance management role in food manufacturing.
  • B.A. degree required; degree or certification in relevant areas preferred.
  • HACCP and PCQI certified.
  • Experience with and a knack for communicating with a diverse, cross-functional team.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to gather, analyze, and report data and insights.
  • Available to work across multiple shifts as needed
  • Strong ability to work in Microsoft Office.
  • Spanish speaking skills preferred, but not required.

  • 90,000-$120,000 salary, based on experience
