Assistant Construction Manager
AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager in San Diego, CA.
Assist the Facilities Planning and Construction Department of the School District in the construction, modernization and renovation of existing and new campus buildings.
Review, edit and interpret plans, specifications and other construction contract documents for constructability.
Assist in a broad range of activities associated with pre-design, design, pre-construction, construction (including all phasing), closeout, occupancy, and warranty.
Meet with professional consultants, project manager, district personnel and school site staff to develop phasing plan, work restrictions and construction schedule.
Assist the construction manager in leading weekly construction meetings.
Visit construction sites to observe work in progress.
Review project costs and scheduling to ensure completion of project within budget and in conformance with contract.
Monitor construction progress and costs; take corrective action as required to manage both schedule and budget.
Administer the change order and allowance process; review requests for schedule or cost adjustments and negotiate changes to the contract; prepare change order documents for approval.
Assist the construction manager in evaluating and processing the contractor's request for payment.
Assist the construction manager in resolving unforeseen site conditions, contract discrepancies and disputes between multiple stakeholders.
Assist with regulatory compliance and financial reporting.
Work with document control systems, project management systems and other software or databases to keep information flow up-to-date and accurate.
Manage the project closeout phase, including certificate of substantial completion, punch list and receipts of as-builts, warrantees and manuals.
Provide continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline processes and work cooperatively to deliver high efficiency projects.
May telecommute.
Qualifications :
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered, research related, or in a related occupation.
Position requires experience in the following :
Project management tools : Primavera, P6, E-Builder or similar;
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and MS project);
Oracle Unifier;
Procore; and
Bluebeam.
Compensation : $86000 to $158000 yearly.
