Job description

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Behavioral Interventionist, Youth Programs to support the Inclusion program in the Department of Recreation & Wellbeing. The program provides individualized and thoughtful support to campers with differing needs, ensuring all campers have an enriching, safe, and fun camp experience.

About the Role

The Behavioral Interventionist will develop, implement, and document plans of accommodations for campers, provide extra hands-on assistance, observe campers' mental and physical health, and refer concerns to the Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in recreational or educational programs for youth, service orientation, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans of accommodations for campers
  • Provide extra hands-on assistance to specific campers and / or groups of campers
  • Observe campers' mental and physical health and refer concerns to the Leadership Team
  • Assist in direct support of campers, including social-emotional regulation, motor skills, and self-help
  • Help campers leave their comfort zones and take healthy risks while improving their knowledge and skill levels

Required Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience working in recreational or educational programs for youth
  • Service orientation, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Passion for working with youth
  • Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the Child Psychology, Child Development, Education, and / or Social Service fields
  • Some college or Associate Degree and / or Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of UC Berkeley's campus policies and procedures

    The budgeted hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00. The University of California, Berkeley offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
