American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med / Surg Neuro Trauma Post Acute unit on night shifts, requiring a WA or compact RN license and experience in neuro and general med-surg care.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Neuro Trauma Post Acute unit of a hospital settingPatient population includes neuro (stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, brain injury, multi-trauma), post-ICU, LVAD, amputation, and med-surg level acuityNight shift is 12 hours, 1900-0730, with rotating weekends and the possibility of back-to-back weekendsNight shift RN patient ratio is 1 : 8 with support from LPN and CNAUnit has 38 beds and is part of a Level III Trauma CenterTravelers are required to float to Med-Surg units, overflow MS, COVID units, and ED holdingEpic charting system is used, previous experience with Epic or Cerner preferredAlaris IV Pump and Pyxis medication dispensing systems are usedPrimary duties include caring for neuro trauma and general med-surg patients in a rehabilitative settingCharge nurse provides free-floating support, with rapid response and STAT nurse assistance availableHospitalist, respiratory therapy, and rehab physician support are available 24 / 7Two days of general orientation (including Epic training) plus one day of unit orientation for RNs is providedTravelers will float first based on unit needHoliday coverage includes 2-3 holidays in fall / winter and 1-2 holidays in spring / summerUp to 5 days of time off can be approvedFirst time travelers with strong soft skills are welcome to applyRequirements
Active WA or compact RN license requiredAt least 1 year of RN experienceCurrent BLS certification requiredCRRN certification preferred but not requiredFamiliarity with bowel and bladder programs, IV and central line maintenance, midlines, ostomies, drains, dressing changes, and general med-surg skills requiredExpertise with IV insertion is a plusMust complete and pass Telemetry Competency prior to startCOVID vaccine is required for employmentBenefits
