What You'll Do
As a Meter Technician , you'll ensure the accuracy and performance of electric revenue metering equipment across our system. You'll provide expert technical support, field testing, and calibration to ensure our metering operations meet the highest standards of safety and reliability.
You'll also :
Deliver outstanding service to internal customers and members through safe, quality workmanship.
Program, test, and maintain meters using software such as Honeywell, Aclara, Itron, and L&G.
Troubleshoot metering and AMI communication issues.
Install and verify transformer-rated metering and instrument transformers (CTs and PTs).
Develop and maintain accurate multipliers for all transformer-rated installations.
Provide metering support and training to line technicians and district personnel.
Conduct Commercial & Industrial (C&I) meter field testing, inspections, and infrared surveys.
Program and commission Distributed Energy Resource (DER) meters, ensuring compliance with BREMC standards.
Analyze and resolve high-bill and power quality concerns using test equipment and vendor software.
Maintain meticulous inventory and records to ensure metering data accuracy.
Assist with major outage restoration efforts as needed.
What We're Looking For
Education : Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
Experience :
Experience as an electronics or industrial maintenance technician preferred.
Utility metering experience is a plus, but not required.
Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of electricity, electronics, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency with voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and personal computers.
Working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and meter programming software.
Ability to interpret and calculate kWh, kW, kVAR, PF, and complex rate data.
Soft Skills :
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong commitment to teamwork, safety, and member satisfaction.
Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with others.
Work Schedule & Requirements
Hours : Monday–Friday, 7 : 30 AM – 4 : 00 PM (flexible 4x10 option available).
Travel : Occasional overnight stays may be required.
License : Must maintain a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Overtime : Position is subject to FLSA overtime requirements.
