Pay Information $2,185 per week About The Position Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : PCU for the ER holding type : Stepdown Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12H Nights Hours per Shift : 12 hours Experience : Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a similar size emergency department. License : Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS Must-Have : Travelers must have successfully completed at least 1 previous travel assignment. References should be from recent assignments. Description : Unit opens on October 1. ASAP starts are highly preferred. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 4-5 and will adjust for acuity. Contracts will go through January 10. Travelers must work 2 of 3 holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Day, New Year’s Eve or Day. Information about the emergency department : There are 50 beds and trauma bays available. A Fast Track is available. There is a separate triage area. ER holds are intermixed within the ER. Two separate psych / seclusion rooms are available. Security is in-house 24 / 7. On average, the ER treats 120 patients per day. Common diagnoses include cardiac, neuro, ortho, and critical care. ED physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners are part of the team. The charge nurse does not have an assignment. Paramedics and patient care techs assist in the ER. Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7. Respiratory therapists respond quickly and complete ABGs and breathing treatments upon request. Registered nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips and save them into the chart. X-ray and CT services are available in the ER with their own techs. There is no phlebotomy assistance in the ER. Shifts & Scheduling : Self-scheduling is available when the schedule is open. Weekend requirements include at least 6 weekend days or nights in a 6-week schedule, equivalent to every other weekend. Holiday requirements are based on departmental needs. There is no on-call or standby requirement. No floating is required. Scrub color is navy. Department-specific orientation occurs during the first week of the contract. Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per assignment.
