Job Description
Plans, directs, and coordinates the risk management safety / loss prevention, and capital / tort claims programs in order to maximize protection of the Authority's assets at the most economical rates. Analyses and classifies risks as to frequency and potential severity, measures financial impact on Authority, and selects the most appropriate techniques to minimize loss. Manages surety, liability, property, workers' compensation insurance programs.
Summary
This position has been identified as designated personnel in accordance with 49 CFR 672. It has direct responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and must comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training must be completed within three years of employment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
Primary duty is the management of an Office of the Authority. Directly or indirectly supervises managers, professionals, and administrative employees assigned to the Office of Risk Management. Interviews, hires, and develops subordinate personnel; sets standards and evaluates performance of employees; provides feedback, coaches, disciplines, and discharges as appropriate.
Education And / or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Insurance / Risk Management, Business Administration, or a directly related field. Must possess a minimum of eight years of directly related professional experience, including at least four years of management level experience with responsibility for risk management and loss control programs in areas such as claims management, workers compensation, accident prevention, and safety. Proficiency in assessing and evaluating risks and determining appropriate insurance coverage for a self‑insured program, and knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations required. In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
