Job Functions :

  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners in accordance with Radiologist protocols. Position patients for all exams scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
  • Observes ALARA principles, As Low as Reasonably Achievable. This is a radiation safety principle for minimizing radiation doses and releases of radioactive materials by employing all reasonable methods.
  • Explain diagnostic procedures to patients, providing patient education
  • Prepares the room, the table and the equipment for patient use
  • Applying all safety measures to all visitors, staff, and patients.
  • Select software options and imaging parameters when adjusting the CT.
  • Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
  • Evaluate all imaging scans for technical quality, collate processed images, window / level adjustment as indicated, and appropriately labeled. Film / transmit to PACS.
  • Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions, including billing of completed exams
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for imaging.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by management as assigned
  • Requirements

    Educational / Experience Requirements :

  • Completion of a 24 month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology, ARRT preferred.
  • Advanced certification (Registry) with the ARRT in CT within 6 months of employment OR successful completion of an accredited CT program.
  • Other Requirements :

  • SCQRSA certification (State License)
  • BLS required
  • Continuing education hours are required every two years for license renewal
