Anticipated Salary Range : $51,300-$55,000

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) seeks an Associate Financial Examiner who has a passion for public service and protecting the public interest in Virginia by maintaining a safe, sound, and competitive financial services environment. Joining the Bureau of Financial Institutions , the Associate Financial Examiner conducts examinations of money transmitters . A money transmitter, also known as money transfer service, is a business entity that facilitates the transfer of funds from one person or entity to another, often between disparate geographic locations and across borders. The Associate Financial Examiner conducts examinations either independently or as part of a team, and most examinations are conducted jointly with other state or federal agencies. This position is based in Richmond, Virginia and requires frequent travel in and out of state. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and analyze operations, financial statements, policies & procedures, and compliance with law and regulations pertaining to money transmitters
• Conduct on-site examinations of money transmitters, requiring overnight and Sunday travel (in and out of state) up to 50 percent of the time
• Assist with offsite monitoring and supervision of money transmitters
• Conduct pre-exam reviews of electronic records of transactions, financial records, and policies & procedures
• Contribute to written reports of examination and work programs
• Perform related work as required
