Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience License : Active Registered Nurse License Certifications : BLS, PALS Must-Have : - Experience with external ventricular drains and trach / ventilation - Experience with titrating drips such as propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrine Description : This position involves working in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with a total of 12 beds. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 2 patients. Common diagnoses include trach / ventilation cases, DKA, respiratory issues, and surgical interventions. No cardiac cases are admitted to this unit. RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips and will be responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment such as vents, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP. There is a charge nurse on each shift, but they do not take an assignment. No nurse aids or patient care techs are present on this unit. A pediatrician is in-house during the day and may take call from home at night. RNs are expected to float to pediatrics for full assignments and may also float for mandatory patient sitter assignments. Weekend work includes 5 shifts within a 6-week period. Holiday work may be required, with the expectation to work at least one during the contract period. Scrub color and dress code are flexible. This role requires strong collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
