Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position in California, requiring a CA license, recent independent PICU experience, and flexibility for variable shifts.

Responsibilities

Work in a high-acuity Pediatric ICU within a hospital setting

Care for critically ill children with conditions including injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-op cardiac and neurosurgical cases

Patient ratios are typically 1 : 1 to 1 : 2

Float as needed within the hospital to units including CVPICU and NICU

Variable 12-hour shifts with flexibility to work days or nights; must be available for weekends and holidays, including holiday eves

No on-call requirements

Uses Epic for charting

Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, CVP, and EKG is required

Responsible for caring for pediatric patients with diverse, critical conditions in a Level 1 trauma, Magnet, and teaching hospital environment

Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays; no Christmas RTO allowed

RTO limited to 6 days; block scheduling is not accommodated

One full weekend off is provided per 4-week schedule period

Any solid color scrubs may be worn except black

First-time travelers are welcome with strong PICU experience

Travelers may float to sister units within the hospital, including satellite NICU locations with IRS-standard mileage reimbursement for offsite NICU coverage

Permanent staff must wait one year before being eligible to return as a traveler

Free traveler parking is provided

Requirements

Active CA RN license in hand or verifiable ETA for licensure

Minimum 2 years of recent independent PICU experience required, with experience within the last year

Current BLS and PALS certifications required

Experience with ventilators, CVP, EKG, and multiple monitors

Flu vaccination required prior to start

Must be willing to float to CVPICU and NICU within scope

No local candidates within a 50-mile radius are considered
