PURPOSE OF THE JOB :
The Northview Preschool Teacher's primary responsibility is to lead classes, create curriculum, and keep parents updated on their child's progress. This position is a nonexempt part-time hourly position in the Northview Preschool Ministry and reports to the Northview Preschool Director.
Administrative Responsibilities :

- Updates attendance sheets daily and monthly
- Maintains student records with accurate and complete information
- Maintains student files
- Enforces all administrative policies and rules
- Helps maintain facility in a safe and satisfactory condition
- Prepares reports on students and activities as required by administration
- Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competencies
- Keeps up on current knowledge in the field of early childhood education
- Responds to emails and voicemail from parents within 24 hours
- Attends staff meetings
Classroom Responsibilities :
Demonstrates God's love to children through Bible study and living by exampleAssimilates arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to themEstablishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates those objectives to childrenProvides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use in learning activities and imaginative playTeaches basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skillsEstablishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining orderReads books to entire classes or small groupsOrganizes and leads activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and field tripsAttends to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapersPrepares materials and classroom for class activitiesTeaches proper eating habitsServes snacks and oversees lunchDemonstrates activities to childrenArranges indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities and safetyOrganizes and labels materials and displays student's work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skillsConfers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning by following approved curriculaSupervises, evaluates and plans for substitutesPlans and supervises class projects, field trips, visits by guests or other experiential activities and guides students in learning from those activitiesChild Development and Assessments :
Observes and evaluates children's performance, behavior, social development and physical heathUses assessments to help determine children's developmental levels, needs, and potentialIdentifies children showing signs of emotional, developmental or health-related problems and discusses them with supervisors, parents or guardians and child development specialistsMeets with parents / guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determines their priorities for their children, and suggests ways that they can promote learning and development through the assessmentsPrepares and implements remedial programs for students requiring extra helpMeets with Director and other staff to review curriculum plans and activities and evaluate programs effectivenessMaintains records on each child's progress and development for curriculum planningAdapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet student's varying needs and interestsWorks with co-teacher to plan and implement the daily program of activitiesSets up and maintains a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to optimal growth and development of childrenDevelops a positive relationship with each child and promotes the development of self-esteem and self-disciplineObserves each child daily to assess skills, interests and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growthEstablishes a positive relationship with each child's family and shares information about the child's day at the schoolHelps parents to understand the curriculum and find ways to involve parents in the programConducts individual parent conferences once a year to discuss each child's growth and developmentSupervisory Responsibilities :
This position has no direct reports however must always supervise the children in their class

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or GED plus two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience would be teaching in early childhood education or working / volunteering in children's ministry.
This position requires CPR certification.
