Supervising Inspector
As a Supervising Inspector, you will lead and oversee construction inspection activities for transportation and infrastructure projects. This role ensures compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents while managing inspection staff and coordinating with contractors and agency personnel. You will serve as the primary field leader, providing technical guidance, scheduling, and quality assurance for all inspection operations.
Responsibilities :
- Leadership & Oversight : Supervise and mentor construction inspection staff, ensuring adherence to project standards and procedures. Allocate resources and delegate responsibilities to support current and projected project conditions. Organize and lead field meetings to communicate updates and resolve issues.
- Inspection & Compliance : Monitor contractor's on-site activities and verify compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules. Perform advanced engineering inspection practices, including complex measurements and calculations. Review and approve inspectors' daily reports, material testing results, and as-constructed sketches.
- Coordination & Documentation : Serve as the primary liaison between field teams, contractors, and agency representatives. Coordinate inspection phases with contractor superintendents and agency personnel. Ensure accurate documentation for pay items and assist in preparing final estimate packages.
Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field preferred).Experience : 6+ years of construction inspection experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of transportation and infrastructure construction practices.Skills : Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Proficiency in inspection documentation and measurement calculations.Certifications : Must obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within specified time frames.Other : Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. This field job primarily operates in outdoor work environments that may include exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements. While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee may include frequent talking, hearing, standing, moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, balancing, coordination, and occasional sitting or operating a company vehicle.
