Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a 38-bay PACU unit within a large Level I Trauma and Magnet Teaching HospitalPatient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatrics recovering from diverse surgeries excluding open heart and liver transplantsCare for post-op cases such as neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, and transplant4x10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday with rotating start times as neededNo weekend or call requirementsFloating may occur within PACU or PreOp units as neededUses EPIC charting system; EPIC experience preferredUnit staffed 24 / 7 with dedicated PCT / transport teamRecover a diverse array of acute post-op patients including complex trauma and surgical casesNo responsibility for recovery of open heart or liver transplant patientsMust wear navy blue scrubsMust pass fit testing; facial hair must allow for proper testing or shaving may be requiredMaximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of assignmentPermanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler to this health systemStandard travelers may stay up to 18 months with a required 3-month break afterwardsPre-employment modules and compliance must be completed prior to startRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license requiredBLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of inpatient critical care or PACU experienceExperience with Level I Trauma Centers and Phase I PACUSkills in dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, and starting IVs requiredAbility to recognize and manage dysrhythmias and respond to acute post-op needsExperience with EPIC charting preferredMust reside at least 75 miles from the facility—no local candidates allowedFirst-time travelers are acceptedBenefits
