Under supervised instruction, performs chemical and microscopic tests in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, microbiology, and miscellaneous special tests.
Consults with clinical instructors / supervisors concerning difficult analyses or unusual / abnormal findings.
Learns to recognize factors that affect procedures and results and takes appropriate actions within predetermined limits when corrections are indicated.
Monitors quality control within predetermined limits.
Rotates through the various departments of the laboratory for instruction. Completes all assigned student tasks.
With the aid of an instructor, prepares reagents and solutions used in testing. Assists in monitoring supplies and inventory.
After appropriate education, operates and maintains various laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Assists in repairs to equipment as needed.
Records test results and monitors values for panic levels and report them to appropriate staff as instructed.
Maintains a 75% average on all didactic test / quizzes / projects to remain in good standing in the program.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned :
Obtain specimens from patients including (venous, capillary, and arterial) blood, sputum, urine, etc.
Processing biological specimens for analysis.
