Bus Driver

Reports To : Supervisor of Transportation and School Principal

FLSA Designation : Non-exempt

Job Goal : To safely transport students to and from school and other school related activities. Maintain a safe and clean environment, manage and discipline students, monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical issues as needed.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver certificate and CDL with a passenger and school bus endorsement
• Possess and maintain a current Department of Transportation (DOT) physical as required by BCBOE policy
• Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record including no DUI convictions
• Provide successful drug screening results and be subject to, and pass, random drug and alcohol screenings or the Alabama School Bus Driver Examination Report once every two years.
• Must be able to successfully complete Blount County School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test.

Terms of Employment :

184-day position in accordance with attention to bus driver requirements for morning and afternoon routes.

Daily work schedule (routes) will be determined by the Supervisor of Transportation or his / her designee for the necessary operations of the school assigned. Work assignments and schedules are subject to change.

Salary : Approved salary schedule for Bus Driver is located on the Human Resources webpage. Annual salary is based on a 40-hour week with daily full-time equivalent of 20 standard work hours.

Evaluation : Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and board policy.
