Job description

We’re searching for an experienced and dynamic Hedge Fund General Counsel to join the legal team of a $5 B fund. The legal team is responsible for all legal and compliance matters for the firm. The successful candidate will build out and oversee the entire legal / compliance program, driving growth and new responsibilities.

Base Pay Range

$250,000 – $350,000 per year

Responsibilities

Legal experience with a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to registered investment advisers
Compliance experience, notably the Investment Advisers Act
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills – able to interact diplomatically and understand business sensitivities and confidentiality
Experience in a senior role involved in firm management is a plus
Direct investment management experience – specifically formation and maintenance of private funds across strategies
Organise and manage complex entity structures, ensuring compliance with fund governing documents

Qualifications & Requirements

At least 8–10 years of experience at an alternative asset manager

In‑depth knowledge of requirements applicable to SEC‑registered investment advisers

Significant experience drafting policies, procedures and memoranda; capable of drafting independently

Willingness to be hands‑on and proactive, comfortable with technology and data

Team player and self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and remains calm under pressure

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
