Department Summary

We offer Bachelor’s degree programs in Computer Science, in Data Science, and in Computer Science and Linguistics (jointly with Dept. of Linguistics and Language Development or LLD). We also offer Master’s degree programs in Computer Science, in Bioinformatics, in Data Science (jointly with Dept. of Math / Stat), and in Computational Linguistics (jointly with LLD, expected to begin in Fall 2024). The faculty members are excellent educators with practical and research expertise in machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence, information security, mobile networking, social networks, bioinformatics, etc. The Department enjoys rich interaction and collaboration with Silicon Valley. Brief Description of Duties

• Teach an equivalent of 15 weighted teaching units (WTUs) each semester (., a full-time position) to be fulfilled through teaching courses (most are 3 WTUs) and administrative / service duties.
• Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity– including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation–through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
• Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (., in-person, synchronous, or hybrid).
