SPECIAL VEHICLE OPERATOR
Salary : $50114.48 - $71031.16

Job Summary :
This position maintains and operates the Departments command vehicles driving them to the location of critical incidents or any incident requiring a mobile command post. Ability to operate command platforms including truck-trailer combinations or motor homes of various sizes. Performs related duties as classification is uncovered;the incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Director of the Department of Public Safety.
Minimum Qualifications :
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver license. Requires two years experience as a professional driver driving a transport or heavy or medium motor vehicle.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :
Ideal candidates will possess a valid CDL.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must successfully complete the Departments Command Trailer Training and Specialty Vehicle Training within three months of hire.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code R.12.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions fumes or dust toxic or caustic chemicals or bodily fluids.
Will be required to work extended and irregular hours.
Must be able to lift / carry items weighing up to 50 pounds in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Must be able to push / pull items weighing up to 50 pounds in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Must be able to walk / run .25 miles.
Pre-Employment Requirements :
Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing.
