Pipefitter
We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter with extensive experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industries. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting ship piping drawings accurately, fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping with precision, end prepping piping by hand or using Portsmouth Machine, installing pipe hangers effectively, reading a ruler using both inches and tenths, prepping and fitting-up backing rings, cleaning cut / break pipe using a grinder, hand prepping V bevels, fabricating various details and assemblies from drawings, bending pipe from templates using a hand bender, and fitting welded sockets and brazed joints with or without inserts.
Essential skills include three or more years of experience as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical First Class Pipefitter, proficiency in reading and interpreting ship piping drawings, skilled in fitting various types of piping including carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel, ability to end prep piping using hand tools or machinery, knowledgeable in pipe hanger installation, competence in using a ruler with inches and tenths, expertise in prepping and fitting backing rings, and experience in pipe fabrication from drawings.
This is a contract position based out of Newport News, VA. The pay range for this position is $29.50 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
