Position Summary :
Responsible for the accurate scheduling coordination of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and related outpatient pre-operative appointments.
As a successful candidate, you will :
- Directly responsible for coordinating surgery cases and outpatient procedures for the department of surgery and all of the associated divisions.
- Coordinates surgical procedure with OR staff and patient to ensure patients are properly scheduled.
- Initiates and reviews the surgical procedure Scheduling Data Sheet. Ensures all documentation is complete and the correct pre-op tests are ordered in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with New Patient Services to ensure biopsy slides, reports and any other pertinent information is available prior to the patient’s surgery date.
- Schedules pre-op appointments. Ensures all documentation is complete and the correct information is communicated and distributed to the patients in a timely manner.
- Coordinates pre-op authorizations with the Utilization Review Department and ensures that all clearances requested by provider are received prior to the procedure date.
- Processes pre-op consultations.
- Processes labs, surgical orders, EKGs, x-rays or any ancillary services as requested by providers.
- Ensures all clearances requested by provider are received prior to the surgery date.
- Directs patient calls regarding pre-op instructions and post op questions.
- Coordinates date of surgery based on doctors OR block time schedules and clinic schedules.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include :
High school degree or equivalent. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.Two years work experience in a medical environment.
