Trauma level I / II hospital experience required. Description : The unit operates with a patient ratio of 1 : 5-6 during day shifts and 1 : 6 during night shifts. There are 90 double occupancy beds available on the unit. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD, AKI, and occasional surgical cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy. Registered Nurses do not titrate heparin or Lasix drips. A charge nurse is assigned on each shift, who may take an assignment if necessary. Patient care technicians are available on the unit, with 8-12 assigned per nurse. Respiratory equipment including bipap and stable tracheostomy care is utilized. Monitoring technicians are also present on the unit; travelers are not required to interpret telemetry as a dedicated monitor tech is available. A weekend shift requirement is expected every other week. Typically, nurses are required to work 2-3 holidays during the assignment. There is a low census on-call requirement. The role may involve floating to MedSurg, stable low acuity in ICU, and related clinics. Scrubs are navy blue in color. Cancellation policy allows for hours equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment.
