The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for a full-time Administrative Officer 1 located in Bethel, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing Under the general supervision of the regional Protective Services Manager 2, this position will work independently performing professional administrative management for the Western Region of the Office of Children's Services (OCS). The incumbent maintains responsibility for management and oversight of a complete array of administrative services for the Western Region. This position directs, oversees, and sets policy for all administrative, budget, fiscal, personnel, and safety matters relating to OCS in the Western Region. The incumbent serves as part of the OCS Western Region management team whose goal is to provide protective services for the children of the State of Alaska.

We Are Seeking a Candidate with the Following Competencies :

The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and / or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Administration and Management : Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
  • Analytical Thinking / Problem Solving : Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Financial Management : Prepares, justifies, and / or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization.
  • Oral and Written Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Equivalent to those typically gained by : Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and / or experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field.
