JOB TITLE : Phlebotomist

Reports to : Lab Manager

HOURS OF WORK : HOURS OF WORK : Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm

40 hours per week / Full time w / Benefits

WAGE : Dependent upon experience and qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for collecting patient specimens for clinical analysis. Specimens include blood, body fluid and cultures. Couriering specimens between NBMC Lab and Bay Area Cancer Center Lab.

SIGNIFICANT DUTIES :

• Perform venipunctures using various techniques.
• Perform capillary collections.
• Obtain culture specimens from various sources.
• Instruct patients on proper collection of off-site specimens.
• Research specimen requirements for referred tests.
• Inventory and requisition phlebotomy supplies.
• Print patient billing information.
• Pick up and deliver specimens between NBMC Lab and Bay Area Cancer Center Lab using company vehicle.
• Attend and actively participate in department meetings.
