Lead Counsel, Monetization (AI)

Summary

Meta is seeking an attorney to join our Monetization Legal team and serve as Lead Counsel, Monetization (AI). This role includes opportunities to advise Meta’s product and business teams on existing and emerging requirements around offering our machine learning and artificial intelligence products for advertisers. An ideal candidate for the role will have product counseling or relevant law firm experience and a solid understanding of AI, data protection, and platform laws and regulations. You should be a clear communicator with a facility for collaborating across functions. You will join a collegial team of lawyers who identify, evaluate and address legal risks in light of emerging laws, compliance obligations and policies.

Required Skills :

Lead Counsel, Monetization (AI) Responsibilities :

Analyze global products, features, and initiatives and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions

Counsel product, engineering and business teams on compliance with existing and emerging AI, data protection, competition, intellectual property and consumer protection laws

Drive and contribute to high‑impact projects with cross‑functional stakeholders across business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other cross‑functional teams

Become an expert in AI and advertising legal issues and help build legal frameworks to address risk in these areas

Minimum Qualifications

J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)

Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in‑house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)

5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and / or in‑house or government experience

Experience with at least one of the following or related legal areas : AI, data protection, platform, consumer protection, or advertising‑related laws and regulations

Effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

In‑house experience at an AI, technology, social media, or digital advertising company

Experience working proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast‑paced environment

Experience collaborating in a multi‑stakeholder environment, navigating complex issues, and driving high‑impact projects

Public Compensation

$167,000 / year to $233,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
