Pay Information $2,728 per week About The Position Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Medical Surgical Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : 1-2 years of Medical Surgical experience preferred License : Valid RN license required Certifications : BLS (AHA), NIHSS (or willingness to complete certification prior to start) Must-Have : Every other weekend required May be asked to float to other Medical Surgical units, ICU units, and emergency department waiting rooms Description : This is a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord. The unit cares for a large spinal surgery population, including postoperative neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients. There are also six step-down / telemetry beds and six bariatric beds, allowing for the management of a diverse patient population. Additionally, the unit includes a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for admitting seizure patients starting at age 5 to determine the cause of their seizures. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 or 1 : 5. Equipment utilized includes EPIC and Pyxis. Holiday requests are not accepted, but dates may be discussed with management to determine if accommodations can be made. All staff are expected to have the flu vaccine, with medical exemptions considered only. Background policy indicates that any issues must be noted prior to submission. Return staff must have a six-month gap before reapplying. Proof of the flu vaccination must be included with the application. If seeking exemption, it must be submitted within 48 hours of signing the contract. Modules are non-billable and completed annually by the staff.
