Firefighter
Help Station Captain for structural, aircraft and wildland crash firefighting including technical rescue operations.
Direct, schedule and coordinate work assignments for up to three fire stations and assist employees in resolving any technical problems that arise.
Perform fire protection related technical duties and perform fire prevention fire safety inspections of low-moderate hazard facilities where fire hazards are expected.
Administer emergency medical care and treatment for illness and injuries of occupational and non-occupational origin for those in need.
Make decisions whether medical treatment is necessary and may be safely performed on site.
Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Analyze an incident with the ability to identify, contain and mitigate a Hazardous material incident.
In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
As a "Key" position, the incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and / or personal protective equipment while on duty.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis; 48-hour rotating shifts with a work schedule of 144 hours per pay period.
Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position performs, as required, mutual aid support to local fire departments.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position requires successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test.
This position requires participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes directing structural firefighting and rescue operations for a variety of emergencies, use of concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguish to mitigate an emergency, plans distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments, administer basic life support care to victims on the scene of an emergency, and enforce policies and directives related to fire and emergency response methods and goals.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the following DoD Certifications : HAZMAT Technician and Airport Firefighter, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and HAZMAT Incident Command.

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
