Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Alton, Illinois (62002) – Greater St. Louis Area

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care Hospital – R&B Surgical Unit

Contract Length : 12 weeks

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 9, 2026

Shift : 3x12-Hour Nights (19 : 00 - 07 : 30), Monday–Friday with rotating day off (most needs are Mon–Thurs)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Patient Ratios : Nights 1 : 5–6

Charting System : EPIC

Scrub Color : Navy

Parking : Free on-site parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (required at time of submission)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience in a hospital setting

BLS certification (required)

EPIC charting experience preferred

Ability to float within service line and scope as needed

Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from Alton, IL

References preferred at time of submittal

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med / Surg environment

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress using EPIC electronic health records

Administer medications, treatments, and post-operative care as directed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams

Maintain patient safety and adhere to infection control standards

Float to other units within the service line as needed

Participate in orientation and complete required training modules prior to start
