Job Title : Operating Room Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : Operating Room Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day Shift Hours per Shift : 10 hours Experience : 2 years of acute care operating room experience required License : Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications : PALS, BLS, ACLS required Must-Have : Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program, BSN highly desired Description : The operating room nurse is responsible for scrubbing and / or circulating duties for operative procedures. The nurse conducts department admissions to the operative suite. The nurse adheres to standards and appropriate aseptic techniques. The nurse consults and coordinates with team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate intraoperative patient care plans. The nurse serves as a communication liaison to patients, families, and members of the operating team. The nurse prepares the operating room for the patient and surgical procedure. The nurse assembles equipment and supplies and ensures that equipment is functional and supplies / implants are available.
