Job description

Medical Records Assistant- we’re willing to train, come join our team!

Position Summary :

Assists in maintaining patient / resident medical records and health information systems in accordance with current federal and state laws, regulations and company policies.

Qualifications :

  • High School Graduate or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 months office experience or preferably Healthcare / hospital environment with general knowledge of how to collect and protect patient information
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and / or medical record experience preferred
  • Proven computer and typing skills
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Presents a professional / positive image and can remain kind, calm and professional in all work related or stressful situations
  • Knowledge of Point Click Care (PCC) preferred

Responsibilities :

  • Clerical responsibilities including answering phones, setting up files, scheduling, documenting, etc.
  • Assists the Director of Medical Records and / or Administrator as directed
  • Retrieves, reviews, protects and provides patient / resident records
  • Follows up with incomplete records, returning to appropriate department for corrections
  • Responds to requests for medical records ensuring they are accurate and on time
  • Assembles, collects and edits medical records as needed
  • Maintains a record of authorized information released from charts / records
  • Tracks and stores active and inactive medical records in accordance with company policy
  • Protects files in accordance with HIPAA standards
  • Assists in recording / filing / reporting on all incidents / accidents
