Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to enter, maintain, and track all official Legislative actions of the Senate during each Legislative session by entering and maintaining bill status and by following and recording Legislative and certain Executive Branch actions. Additionally, this position provides service and support to the Senate Desk and to the Senate Journal department and has a purpose to track moving legislation and record it in a specific format that reliably indicates what actions have occurred for website and print publication. This position will assist as needed in interim INDEX compilation and print production.
Primary Responsibilities
Enter, update, and maintain bill status and maintain the Senate bill information system on the Senate web page for Members, Legislative staff, and the public to access and review.
Proof Senate bill introduction lists, committee reports, resolutions, House of Representatives messages and introductions, authorship changes, and motions for accurate information to be conveyed to Members, Legislative staff, and the public.
Enter journal page numbers for all bill actions for print publication and on the Senate website.
Proof paging of all Senate and House bill file actions to ensure the correct journal page numbers are reflected on the Senate website.
Monitor all Senate sessions and take notes while the Senate is in session to make sure notes match those of Senate Journal and the Secretary of the Senate.
Create the Miscellaneous Index using Microsoft Word.
Record “See” references on engrossments thereby providing a resource for people searching for the status of a smaller Senate file that was rolled in to an Omnibus bill.
Create a Supplementary Index printed document for the Secretary of the Senate and Senate Index, consisting of Legislative actions typically not printed in the journal.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, political science, communications, business administration, history, or related field of study.
OR
Minimum of one year of work experience in a legislative setting performing legislative process communication, or related.

Previous legislative experience and knowledge of the Revisor of Statutes system.
