X-Ray Tech Details
X-Ray Tech Duties
Conducting X-ray examinations on inmates as requested by medical staff or as part of routine health screenings. This involves positioning patients correctly, operating X-ray equipment, and ensuring clear and accurate images are obtained.
Adhering to strict safety protocols to protect both patients and themselves from radiation exposure. This includes following proper procedures for shielding and monitoring radiation levels.
Performing routine maintenance and quality control checks on X-ray machines to ensure they are functioning properly and producing high-quality images. Reporting any equipment malfunctions or issues to maintenance staff for prompt repair.
Recording details of X-ray procedures in patients' medical records, including the type of examination performed, any relevant medical history, and the results of the imaging studies.
Working closely with medical staff, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, to coordinate patient care and ensure that imaging services meet the needs of the facility's healthcare program.
Providing clear instructions to inmates about the X-ray procedure, including any necessary preparations and what to expect during the examination. Answering any questions or concerns they may have about the process.
Upholding strict confidentiality standards regarding patient information and medical records, in accordance with healthcare privacy laws and facility policies.
Being prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a medical emergency or urgent situation within the correctional facility, including providing X-ray support for trauma cases or suspected injuries.
Staying updated on advancements in radiologic technology, safety practices, and healthcare regulations through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Following security protocols and procedures established by the correctional facility to ensure the safety of oneself and others while working in a confined environment with potentially high-risk individuals.
