Job Summary
Assists with the directing, planning, supervising and preparation of food for all areas within the Food Service Department.Responsibilities :
Follows planned menus ensuring all menu items are prepared to standards in compliance with approved recipes.Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned such as cleaning work areas, assumes responsibility for the care and sanitation of all equipment within cook's area.Fills in whenever necessary within the cook's battery. Assumes responsibility for the proper and timely preparation for meals served on a daily basis.Assumes responsibility for the documentation of temps, cook and chill times to be recorded daily and kept on file on-going monthly. Adheres at all times to rotating, dating and labeling according to the Department of Health standards.Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures.Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel.Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.Performs other duties as required.Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; general knowledge of high school subject matter possibly including sciences, simple medical procedures or terminology or office equipment.Experience : Requires two (2) years of experience as a First Cook. Institutional experience required. including hospital, nursing home, college feeding and full service restaurants.License : N / A.Working Conditions
Physical : Requires light physical effort on a regular basis, as in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and / or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 20 lbs.).
