Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end accounts payable function at American Leather, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments while upholding strong internal controls and accounting integrity. In addition to managing daily operations, this role will focus on leading the AP team, standardizing processes, implementing scalable solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

This position requires a strong leader with deep knowledge of AP operations and a passion for building efficient workflows and collaborative teams. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on problem-solving with strategic process design and cross-functional partnership.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Operations

• Manage all aspects of the accounts payable cycle, including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and timely payments.
• Oversee processing of both PO and non-PO invoices, ensuring proper routing and compliance with company policy.
• Ensure proper 3-way match is performed for PO invoices (purchase order, goods receipt, and invoice) prior to payment.
• Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, receivers, and vendor invoices in partnership with the Purchasing and Receiving teams.
• Coordinate and execute weekly and monthly payment runs (ACH, wires, checks).
• Maintain vendor master data and ensure accuracy of payment terms, remittance information, and compliance documentation.
• Ensure accurate month-end accruals and timely closing of AP-related ledgers.
• Monitor AP aging reports and support cash forecasting efforts.
• Oversee the annual 1099 reporting process and ensure tax-related compliance.
• Support internal and external audits by providing AP-related documentation and schedules.
