Job description

Description

The Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking a Systems Engineer . This Systems Engineering (SE) opportunity on the U.S. Navy's Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) will allow participation on a high-visibility DoD program that provides engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world. This position will provide many opportunities to challenge and grow your skills as a Systems Engineer.

A successful candidate will use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, the System Modeling Language (SysML), and the Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology, tailored for the SMIT Project to build the Naval Enterprise Network (NEN) model. This modeling will achieve the goal of creating, maintaining, updating, modernizing, and refreshing the capabilities and components of NMCI. This position is a member of a small, well-connected, and dynamic team that is responsible for providing the core competency for MBSE, SysML, MBSE processes, CATIA Magic Systems Modeler also referred to as Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and other MBSE Tool Suites across the entire SMIT program. This candidate is expected to be hands-on within the model and MBSE tools.

The candidate will utilize an agile MBSE approach that provides rigor, repeatability, and flexibility to support the needs of stakeholders, including our customer and the SMIT team. This position will apply MBSE methods to create and manage the NEN System Model, using SysML and aligned with the NAVWAR EA Profile, enabling support of all SE use cases across the systems engineering lifecycle to realize the full projected value of MBSE.

The effective candidate will create, mature and maintain Service-level and System-level Requirements within CSM by following a structured process. This includes using the CSM tool to create all relevant Derived, Refined, Verified, and Satisfied relationships to the other elements within the NEN model. The Candidate will use CSM to build abstract, logical High-Level Design (HLD) architecture of the System as well as implementation-specific, physical, detailed Low-Level Design architecture of the Solution. The candidate will also use CSM to develop and execute Test Plans, Procedures, and Results. A successful Candidate will need to engage and collaborate directly with Leidos Domain Architects and other Subject Matter Experts (SME's) regularly to ensure that the NEN model is accurate.

Primary Responsibilities :

Develop and manage the System model to support performance of technical analyses for a subsystem or system elements- developing technical solutions, preparing trade studies, decomposing the solution into system-level requirements.

Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust Requirement Traceability Matrices, within the CSM NEN Model, that meet the Governance Team standards, while also initiating and curating informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the published deliverable meets the SMIT standards for rigor and accuracy.

Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust High-Level Designs, within the CSM NEN Model, that meet the Governance Team standards, while also initiating and curating informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the published deliverable meets the SMIT standards for rigor and accuracy.

Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust Low-Level Designs, within the CSM NEN Model, that meet the Governance Team standards, while also initiating and curating informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the published deliverable meets the SMIT standards for rigor and accuracy.

Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust model-based test artifacts, within the CSM NEN Model, while also initiating and curating peer reviews with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the published deliverable meets the SMIT standards for rigor and accuracy. Execute test events with the support of engineering staff and record verdicts within CSM NEN Model.

Develop models of system requirements, architecture / design, interfaces, behavior, and simulations using No Magic's Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and suite.

Provide foundational patterns and cross-cutting model elements to support creation of "to-be" models to capture the structure, behavior, and configuration settings that help assess the impacts / implications of change.

Translate systems engineering processes from traditional document-based system engineering efforts to delivery of model-based work products to customers as required.

Be an ambassador for MBSE by being able to speak to the benefits of this approach as compared to the DSEM process.

Collaborate and coordinate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.

Lead small, somewhat complex MBSE-related activities as requested (e.g., modeling MBSE processes, developing patterns, test cases, and simulations based on input from domain experts, identifying MBSE tool integration requirements).

Basic Qualifications :

Requires B.S. Degree and 4 or more years of prior relevant experience or M.S. with 2 or more years of prior relevant experience (in System Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline) from an accredited college or university.
